5-Day Pottery Workshops

Instructors: Stephanie O'Shaughnessy and Guest Artist Mary Pickett

$130 per person (ages 18-100)

$105 per person (ages 8-17)*

Learn basic skills on the pottery wheel for beginners or those with some experience who would like to refresh their techniques. A fun foundation course in making small bowls and vessels on an electric pottery wheel. Learn preparing clay, centering, throwing, trimming, techniques for altering and decorating and glazing. Fee includes clay, glazes and 2 instructor firings.

Interested in learning how to throw pots on a pottery wheel but not sure you want to take a full workshop? Then the beginner Mini Workshop is for you! Learn basic skills on the potter’s wheel. Learn preparing clay, centering, throwing, trimming and glazing techniques. Fee includes instruction, clay, glazes and 2 instructor firings.​

OPEN STUDIO HOURS

Explore your creativity, working independently, in a welcoming studio with other artists!

Open Studio hours are offered to adults who have taken 5-Day Pottery Workshop or two Mini Workshops at the Galena ARC or are proficient at using a pottery wheel. NOTE: No instruction occurs during open-studio time.

HOURS:

Currently we have Open Studio on Thursday evenings (6-8pm) and Saturday mornings (10am-noon). You must register in advance with Liz Larson.

​

Studio Rental Fee:

$12 for 2 hours

To be paid by cash or check in the Pottery Studio during Open Studio. 10 hour punch cards available for $60.

Includes use of this equipment:

• Brent Pottery Wheels

• Hand Tools

• Banding Wheels

• Slab Roller

• Storage space for your clay and pottery

ARC Materials Fee:  $35

To be paid by cash or check in the Pottery Studio during Open Studio.

Includes:​

• 25 pound bag of clay (DSM 1/2 grog stoneware)

• Bisque Firing

• Wax

• Glazes

• Cone 6 Glaze Firing
  (Firings to be done by Galena ARC)
