Approximately 12” tall – Marie will do some roughing out prior to class. You can also carve this Hawk in basswood, a softer easier wood to carve, and paint or stain it at home if you prefer. Butternut wood has a beautiful grain and is perfect for this stylized Hawk. Marie will walk you step by step on completing this carving with a rotary tool and carbide bits and burs, or you can use a sanding disc instead of the bits and burs. This carving requires a lot of hand sanding. You will learn the art of keeping it simple and letting the wood show and speak for itself. All supplies to complete your Hawk are included.

Stylized Deer in Cherry Wood
*Best to have taken a previous carving class from Marie

Instructor: Marie McDonough  Artist Bio

TWO DAY WORKSHOP

Sat. July 13, 11:00am – 5:00pm
Sun. July 14,
11:00am – 5:00pm

1/2 hour break for lunch, bring a sack lunch.

Registration fee: $150

This is a WOW piece. It will amaze your family and friends. This is a stylized piece to allow for the beautiful cherry wood to show. A bit harder wood, but so beautiful. The cherry wood also allows for strength in the skinny legs, so they are not as fragile. You can also carve this Deer in basswood, a softer easier wood to carve, and paint or stain it at home if you prefer.  This class will require a lot of hand sanding. All supplies to complete your Deer are included.
