Learn basic skills on the potter’s wheel for beginners or those with some experience who would like to refresh their techniques. A fun foundation course in making bowls, cups and vases on the electric potter’s wheel. Learn preparing clay, centering, throwing, trimming, techniques for altering and decorating and glazing. Fee includes up to 25 lbs. of clay (additional clay for purchase), glazes and firing.

Handbuild Pottery / Mask Making

 

1 Class 

Saturday: July 31

1 - 4 pm  |  $35

The art of making masks began some 9000 years ago. From that moment, masks were made and used in thousands of different ways and became 

inseparable from our lives. There are as many different types of masks as there are cultures. In this class, using hand-building techniques, create your own 3 dimensional mask from clay. Use your hands and sculpting tools to make your mask come alive. Fee includes clay, glazes and firing.

Introduction to Throwing

 

3 Classes 

Fridays: July 9, 16, 23

1-3 pm*  |  $75

 

A fun foundation course in making bowls and cups on the electric potter’s wheel. Learn preparing clay, centering, throwing, trimming, techniques for altering and decorating. Expect to have 3 to 4 finished pieces. Fee includes clay, glazes and firing.

YOUTH 3-7 grade

Handbuild Pottery / Garden Art

 

3 Classes 

Saturday: June 26

1-4 pm*  |  $35

 

Using hand-building techniques create a wall pocket/vase and a garden sculpture (miniature animal, fairy, or creature, real or imagined.

Complete these 3 steps:

1. For immediate class registration please email: artdirector@galenaarc.org

You will be placed on the class list in order of email received. Your place will be held for 4 days awaiting payment. After 4 days if payment is not received you will be bumped from the list. You will receive a confirmation email once payment is received.

2. Download and Print the Registration Form

3. Place your completed form and payment in the Galena ARC lock box right outside ARC front doors (in a sealed envelope marked Art Class Registration). Lock box is checked daily.
