​Beginner's Level Class
Animal/Pet Pen and Ink Drawing Workshop
Instructor: Pat Holland, Galena Artist

4 Thursdays: April 9, 16, 23, 30
6-8pm
Registration fee: $85
​
​This is a basic beginner pen and ink drawing workshop for animal illustration. Pat will lead you in learning how to how to see the basic shapes that make up an animal (see what is under the fur), create shape and form with light and shadow and learn how to manipulate pen strokes with pressure and repetition. During the fourth class Pat will show you how to bring additional dimension and interest to your drawing by adding touches of colored pencil.
Bring a portrait of your favorite animal or pet and Pat will teach you how to bring out the subtle expression and personality of the animal.
The right tools are important for a successful drawing.
Please bring these supplies:

Drawing Pad (Bristol with either a Smooth or Vellum Surface)

Micron pens, point sizes .005 to .05

#2 Graphite Pencil

Photo of a favorite animal or pet with good highlights and shadows (If the photo is of a pet please bring several photos to choose from if you can.)

Set of colored pencils (Or you can borrow colored pencils from the Galena ARC.)
