Jewelry Art Class
Wednesday, Nov 5 | 6-8pm | $60**
Instructor: Suzy Newman
Create a beautiful art piece from jewelry you might never wear—the perfect way to repurpose lovely pieces you’ve had for years or have inherited from a loved one. All you need to do is gather costume jewelry, the older the better. Rhinestone brooches, in particular, are great for this project. We will be gluing jewelry on black felt in a frame, in the form of a Christmas Tree, Angel, Heart, Flowers, Snowman etc…whatever suits your fancy. You will need more earrings and brooches than you think, so we will have small bags of mixed jewelry for sale at the class to help fill in, if needed (payable with cash).
Registration includes a frame (assorted sizes to choose from), black felt and tools. You may also bring your own frame.

PLEASE BRING: Old costume jewelry, such as earrings, brooches, necklaces, and pendants. Sparkly is good and so are pearls. Note that we will be taking off pin backs and earring backs, so the jewelry you bring will be dismantled.

**Paid for in part by an Illinois Arts Council grant.

Suzy Newman is an artist and interior designer. One of her creative passions is to repurpose vintage jewelry, which she has been doing for many years. She started making these pieces of art after inheriting collections of vintage jewelry from her aunts. It was a great way to honor them and keep memories of them alive.
