Summer art class schedules are subject to COVID-19 outbreak and the State of Illinois directive.

SUMMER Art Thursdays

AGES 6 – 14
1 - 5 p.m.

Registration fee for each class is $30

 

Join us for “Art Thursdays” this Summer. We have a series of classes that will span the entire afternoon on several Thursdays throughout June and July. Classes begin at 1 p.m. and end at 5 p.m. Drop off and pickup can be extended 1/2 hour before or after class as needed to accommodate family schedules. Snack will be provided mid-afternoon. Fee includes all supplies.

JUNE Art Thursdays
JUNE 11
Upcycle Cigar Box 
 

Transform a wooden cigar box into a treasure box by decoupaging retro book illustrations, comic book pages and scrapbook paper. Then decorate with ribbon, buttons, keys, and other fun trimmings.

JUNE 18
Sculpture

This class is for those students who love to create in 3D. Make fluid, graceful sculptures inspired by Alexander Calder. Also create fun steampunk sculptures from air dry clay and found objects.

Painting Techniques

Learn a few different painting techniques using watercolor and acrylic paint, explore relief painting as well as paint a scene on an actual sand dollar!

Puppet Theater

Create a puppet theater, several puppets from wooden spoons and write a short play! 

JULY 16
Bead Making

Learn how to make several types of art beads: wool felted, paper, yarn and Sculpy clay. String your art beads to create an eclectic wall hanging.

JULY 23

Latch Hook

The practice of latch hooking became popular in the 1930s and continues to be a popular craft today. You will map out your own personal design on canvas and with yarn and a special hook you will create a mini wall hanging or rug.

GUEST ARTIST THURSDAY!
Weaving with Toni Klingler

Toni is coming back again this Summer to teach a different basket weaving technique! Weave this small basket starting with reed then get creative by adding
your own personal touch with fabric, yarn or dyed reed.
