As a tailor, I have a lot of clients bringing in their items for just one button. This is easy to do and learn, so I want to show you! I also know how annoying it can be to have your pants drag on the ground or crumple at your ankles, so let’s fix that too!

 

In this beginner friendly workshop, I will walk you through step by step how to:

• Thread a sewing machine

• Sew on a button

• Measure, cut, and hem your pants!

 

These are two of the most useful sewing skills to have. It can feel empowering to fix things yourself, not to mention it will save you money and save your clothes! So let's make your favorite clothes wearable again. 

 

PLEASE BRING TO CLASS:

A pair of too-long pants and a garment that’s missing a button or two!

 

SUPPLIES TO BRING:

Bring what you can, what you can’t will be provided!

• Hand needles

• Thread that matches pants if possible

• A button or two that needs to be sewn on 

• Scissors

• Pins

• Ruler

• Measuring tape

• Seam ripper

• Tailor's chalk

• Pinking shears

​SEWING MACHINES:

Each student must have their own machine during class. The ARC does have machines available for use if you do not own one. We encourage you to bring in your own sewing machine as you will be more familiar with it. Please make sure it is in good working order prior to class. Please indicate on the order form if you need to use an ARC sewing machine.
