Galena Dog Park

The Galena Dog Park (GDP) monthly committee meetings are held the 3rd Thursday each month (see schedule below) at 6pm at the Galena ARC, 413 S. Bench Street, Galena. If you have questions, please contact GDP volunteer Jane Holland at 815-238-6010.

December 2011 the Galena Art & Recreation Center (ARC) agreed to partner with the volunteer based Galena Dog Park committee, the Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation/Conservation Guardians of Northwest Illinois and the City of Galena in the creation and management of a dog park within Gateway Park in Galena. 

Gateway Park is now owned (August 2011) by the City of Galena in partnership with the Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation (JDCF).    JDCF is the non-profit organization that raised necessary funds to "Save the View", purchase the land and create Gateway Park.   The City of Galena and Conservation Foundation are waiting on two possible grants to build Gateway Park, add roads, a parking lot, bathroom and trails. 

The Galena Dog Park Committee is a group of volunteers committed to the creation and maintenance of the Galena Dog Park.  The committee consists of Chris DeNino, Jane Holland, Sarah Petersen, Gail DeMoss, Christy Hopper, Jim Webster, Cathy Winslow and Gail Gabbert.  Please join us!  See committee information below. 

 The role of the ARC will be to assist in the administration including membership data, donations, administer tags and the marketing and promotion of the park.  The volunteers of the Galena Dog Park Committee with lead all fundraising, logistics and maintenance of the park.

Galena Dog Park (GDP) Window Clings

Galena Dog Park window clings (image of our awesome logo) are now available for $15. The window cling easily sticks to your car window and is removable.  This 7"x 4" full color clings is our first fundraiser and will be available in mid-February. Email: galenadogpark@gmail.com for your cool window cling today or mail check to ARC, 413 S. Bench Street, Galena, IL 61036.  Checks made payable to the Galena ARC (indicate Dog Park Cling in the memo please).
